Detroit Metropolitan Airport Vegan Guide (2024)

Detroit Airport Vegan Options

Are you currently looking for vegan options in the Detroit Metropolitan Airport?

You’re in the right place!

In this guide we’ll breakdown each concourse, giving you the best vegan options available, where they are and a couple menu suggestions.

Having said that, we want to forewarn you now. There are not a ton of restaurants at the Detroit Airport in general and we found even less vegan options.

Many chain location names are clickable and will take you to the complete vegan guide for that restaurant.

Finally, we found a few local restaurants inside the airport, but couldn’t determine which, if any, offered good vegan options. If you know of any good options that we’re missing, please reach out and let us know so we can improve this guide!

Vegan Options at the Detroit Airport

McNamara Terminal

Plum Market w/ Zingermans (A36)

A couple of VeggL users have given us info and recommended Plum Market for their vegan options! They offer a Vegan Chocolate and Millet Cupcake, Overnight Oats with Chia and Strawberry, Vegan Cauliflower Tacos and a Vegan Squash and Cauliflower Curry with steamed rice.

Ask what other options they have and don’t forget to check their grab-n-go section. We were also made aware that they offer a Vegan Bahn Mi and have great vegan snacks.

Thank you for the info, Stephanie, Harmony and Maria!

PF Changs (A38)

You could order their Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps or their Ma Po Tofu with steamed white or brown rice. Our guide has all of their vegan options.

Illy Coffee & Fountain Bar (Gate A40)

A VeggL user reached out and let us know that Illy Coffee offers oat, almond, and soy milk. Thank you, Paul!

Vino Volo (Gate 45)

We had a VeggL user let us know Vino Volo is an option. We suggest asking what options are or can be made vegan but we were told you can order Avocado Toast, Avocado & Beet salad (minus the feta), and Truffle popcorn without the butter (ask them for a little extra truffle oil instead).

Mezza Mediterranean Grill (A54)

Mezza offers hummus, falafel and a Beyond Burger that can be made vegan. We also learned they have breakfast potatoes and Beyond breakfast sausage. Order a plate with sausage, potatoes and fruit.

2 of our VeggL users came thru with this info. Thank you, Andy and Harmony!

Subway (Gate A60)

Subway Vegan Options
Subway Veggie Patty Sub with lettuce, tomato, onion, bell pepper, banana pepper, cucumber and sweet onion teriyaki sauce. 9/2022

Subway’s veggie patty is now vegan friendly, but it’s availability at locations is very hit and miss. If the airport location has it on the menu, it could be a good option. (especially at the Detroit airport where options are pretty limited)

Outside of the veggie patty, Subway doesn’t have anything that’s going to wow any vegan, but you can get a veggie sub and a bag of chips. It may not be exciting, but in a pinch you can grab a bite here.

Pinkberry (A71)

Pinkberry is a create-your-own frozen yogurt chain with vegan options made with coconut milk or with just fruit and plenty of toppings! Our guide lists all of their options but they do vary by location.

Qdoba (A72)

Qdoba is great for a Mexican bowl or burrito. They even have a bowl called a Fajita Vegan Bowl. It comes with sauteed fajita veggies, guacamole, pico de gallo, chile corn salsa, salsa verde, black beans and brown rice.

Chick-fil-A (A72)

At the airport, options may be sparse but you could get some waffle fries. Check our guide. They might have a few other options you could make work, like a modified Cool Wrap. These are not available at all locations but could be a great healthy option if they have it. And the Kale Crunch Side or even their Fruit Cup needs no modifications.

North Terminal

MOD Pizza (D8)

MOD Pizza is awesome for vegans. It’s a Chipotle style walk thru the line, add toppings to your crust, kind of place… with plenty of vegan options, including vegan cheese and a plant-based Italian sausage.

Anita’s Kitchen (D23)

Anita’s Kitchen has a great selection of vegan options! And they’re labeled on the menu.

They have a few vegan smoothies, a Mediterranean bowl with falafel, a falafel pita sandwich, tabouleh salad, fattoush salad, Lebanese house salad, grilled vegetables, hummus, fried cauliflower, soup and vegan dessert.

Starbucks (Gate D26)

Starbucks Pink Drink. Vegan as-is!

With the many options of non-dairy milk (oat, almond, soy, coconut) available at all Starbucks, there is almost an infinite number of vegan drinks you can order using. Our guide can show you the endless amount of them.

On the food side, you have a few options including the Chickpea Bites & Avocado Protein Box and Bagels (plain, cinnamon raisin, everything). You can also check for their Strawberry Overnight Grains and snacks.

Pei Wei (D26)

Tofu, Rice and Veggies with a few different choices of sauces. Also offers Edamame if you want a quick snack. Please be aware that some locations have taken tofu off of their menu but do get it in at times so if you do not see it on the menu, ask. And then ask what options you can get.

Many of our VeggL users eat at the restaurant, at various airports, and have told us they will accommodate vegans.

Chick-fil-A (D26)

At the airport, options may be sparse but you could get some waffle fries. Check our guide. They might have a few other options you could make work, like a modified Cool Wrap. These are not available at all locations but could be a great healthy option if they have it. And the Kale Crunch Side or even their Fruit Cup needs no modifications.
