Is The Chick-fil-A Cauliflower Sandwich Vegan?

Vegan Options at Chick Fil A

Chick-fil-A is testing a Cauliflower Sandwich beginning Monday, February 13, in 3 locations across the United States; Denver, Colorado, Charleston, South Carolina, and Greensboro, North Carolina.

This will be the first plant-based sandwich that Chick-fil-A is testing. It’s said to be a tender filet cut of cauliflower marinated and breaded with Chick-fil-A’s signature seasonings then served on a buttery bun with pickles.

The pictures look exactly like one of their animal-based chicken sandwiches.

Is The Chick-fil-A Cauliflower Sandwich Vegan?

Was it created with us vegans in mind?

Nope. Nope. Nope.

The Chick-fil-A Cauliflower Sandwich is NOT vegan as it will contain dairy and eggs.

We have yet to get a breakdown of the ingredients but we will update this article if/when we do. Although, we do know the cauliflower is dipped in an egg wash and then breaded. That means there is absolutely no way to try to modify it.

Don’t They Want More Business?

The more people who can eat there will create more profit, I would think.

They have stated that they do not even consider it vegetarian-friendly because of its cooking environment. Not only did Chick-fil-A not consider us, but they are also telling vegetarians not to try it. At this point, they are banking on omnivores to tell them if “plant-based” will work for their business.

Just doesn’t make any sense to us.

This could have been BIG for Chick-fil-A.

What Can You Order Vegan at Chick-fil-A?

Chick-Fil-A’s Waffle Fries and veganized Cool Wrap.

Now that we know us animal-free folks were not the target audience for Chick-fil-A’s Cauliflower Sandwich, what can we order?

They do have a few options.

If your location offers the Cool Wrap, this is great with a few modifications. You have to order with NO chicken, cheese or avocado lime dressing (contains buttermilk). It is good by itself or you can ask for one of the vegan dressings or sauces to top it with. I like the Chili Lime Vinaigrette while Ryan likes the Sweet & Spicy Sriracha Sauce.

They have a Fruit Cup or even a side called, Kale Crunch Side. No modifications are needed. It has curly kale and green cabbage with an apple cider and dijon mustard vinaigrette then topped with roasted almonds.

And of course their crispy Waffle Fries… with just the right amount of salt.

If only we could have a sandwich to go with our Waffle Fries. (sigh)

In Conclusion…

You can see all of Chick-fil-A’s Vegan options in their vegan guide, including an FAQ section where we answer even more questions you may have.
