Jamba has debuted a lovely flavored fall smoothie, an Orange Cranberry Whip, but as we do at VeggL, we quickly questioned if it is vegan.
Upon looking at the description, “orange juice, orange cranberry flavored base, orange sherbet, coconut whip,” we really had our hopes up.
Did you just read that? …it has coconut whip!
A lot of us just might assume that it is vegan-friendly; however, when you take that next step and look at the allergens, it becomes perplexing.
What Does Jamba’s Allergen Section Say About Their New Orange Cranberry Whip?
The allergens information for Jamba’s new Orange Cranberry Whip Smoothie says the smoothie contains dairy.
What? …why? It has coconut whip. Are they just trying to confuse us, dairy-free folks?
After learning that, I contacted Jamba for more clarity on the ingredients.
What Are the Ingredients in Jamba’s Orange Cranberry Whip Smoothie?
The ingredients list we were given for the Orange Cranberry Whip Smoothie include:
Orange Juice (from concentrate), Orange Cranberry Flavored Base (Water, Sugar, Cranberry Juice Concentrate, Corn Starch, Orange Juice Concentrate, Citric Acid, Fruit and Vegetable Juice [for color], Locust Bean Gum, Natural Flavors), Orange Sherbet (Water, Sugar, Milk, Corn Syrup, Whey, 2% or less of Orange Juice Concentrate, Orange Pulp, Orange Oil, Cream, Citric Acid, Mono- and Diglycerides, Locust Bean Gum, Guar Gum, Carrageenan, Annatto Extract [color]), Ice, Coconut Whip (Filtered Water, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Tapioca Syrup, Organic Cane Sugar, Pea Protein, Guar Gum, Sunflower Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Natural Flavor).
So let’s answer the question at hand…
Is Jamba’s NEW Orange Cranberry Whip Smoothie Vegan?
No. Jamba’s Orange Cranberry Whip Smoothie contains dairy in the orange sherbet. Yes, it has a coconut whip topping that is vegan-friendly but it’s the sherbet that contains the dairy.
Bummer.
Can Jamba’s Orange Cranberry Whip Smoothie Be Made Vegan?
Yes! We have not tried this. Honestly, it’s our best guess at what could be good but this is completely up to you if you want to try it.
HOW TO ORDER VEGAN: Order an Orange Cranberry Whip Smoothie. SUB the orange sherbet with oatmilk frozen dessert.
Your smoothie will now include orange juice, an orange cranberry flavored base, oatmilk frozen dessert, ice and coconut whip.
What Other Drinks Can I Order Vegan at Jamba?
Another limited-time smoothie that we highly recommend is their Plant-Based Pumpkin Smash. It has oatmilk, oatmilk frozen dessert and their pumpkin spice base.
Their Vanilla Blue Sky is on my list to try. It’s so pretty with the beautiful blue from the spirulina. Along with the blue spirulina, it has unsweetened almondmilk, vanilla coconutmilk, bananas and pineapple.
But the one I typically get because it has greens is Jamba’s Greens ‘n Ginger smoothie. It comes with lemonade, peaches, kale, mangos and ginger.
In Conclusion…
Whether you want to try our modification of Jamba’s Orange Cranberry Whip or not, you have plenty of vegan-friendly smoothies to choose from.
If you would like to see all of them, we have a complete Vegan Guide for Jamba that can help you out.
However, if you do try our modification suggestion with the oatmilk frozen dessert, let us know what your review is in the comments!
