Are Del Taco’s Cinnamon Churros Vegan?

To answer your question… No, Del Taco’s Cinnamon Churros are NOT vegan. As you read through the ingredients, there is caseinate, which is derived from cow’s milk, chicken egg, egg whites and egg yolk.

The palm oil is problematic as well. While palm oil does not contain any animal ingredients, the retrieval of palm fruit is devastating to its natural environment. Knowing this, many vegans and environmentally conscious people choose to do their best to not consume products with palm oil.

Sugar is another ingredient that many vegans question due to the concern of whether the sugar was processed using bone char. After doing in-depth research a couple of years ago, most of the major companies that provide sugar for the United States no longer use bone char. Honestly, there was only 1 company I did not receive a response from.

Since we learned that, I no longer get hung up on sugar. This is also an ingredient that when you see people say the product is “accidentally vegan” it means that while the product was not intended to be vegan, it has 99.99% animal-free ingredients. The only ingredients we may not be able to know about would be the sugar and artificial/natural flavors.
