White Castle Vegan FAQ

Vegan Options at White Castle

What is going on with White Castle’s Veggie Burger?

White Castle has gone through a couple iterations of Dr. Praeger’s Veggie Burger. They had a Dr. Praeger’s veggie patty on the menu from 2015 to either late 2024 or early 2025. We’re not 100% sure when it was removed from the menu. We removed it from our guide February 2025.

This is the ingredient list for the original Dr. Praeger’s patty offered at White Castle:

Carrots, Onions, String Beans, Oat Bran, Soybeans, Zucchini, Peas, Broccoli, Corn, Soy Flour, Spinach,
Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Red Pepper, Arrowroot, Corn Starch, Garlic, Corn Meal, Salt, Parsley, Black Pepper

Then, in June 2026, White Castle introduced a new Veggie Burger with a different flavor profile but still from Dr. Praeger’s. This one is described as, “features a crispy brown rice crust and a savory blend of six vegetables — sweet potatoes, black beans, corn, red bell peppers, onions and carrots — seasoned with smoky chipotle and sweet BBQ flavors and served on a classic Slider bun with a slice of jalapeño cheese.”

Order with NO cheese to make it vegan* friendly.

What is going on with White Castle’s Impossible Slider?

Great question. The times I have been to White Castle since being vegan were when the original Dr. Praeger’s veggie patty was being offered along with the Impossible Slider. I would get both. And every single time, I enjoyed the Impossible Slider more.

It was an Impossible patty with fire roasted onions & pickle on a slider bun (and cheese).

The Impossible Slider was removed from the menu towards the end of 2025 after research was conducted and while people want a veggie friendly options, they want a prominently vegetable patty.

Are White Castle’s Onion Chips vegan-friendly?

No. According to White Castle’s allergen info, the Onion CHIPS contain egg and dairy. While the Onion RINGS are vegan-friendly as long as you do not mind a shared fryer.
