Starbucks 2026 fall menu is here and it has brought an array of flavors–pumpkin, chai, pecan and banana bread! Are any of the drinks or food vegan-friendly? Can anything be modified?
I want to preface this by mentioning that all items aside from just the espresso or drip coffee and fruit should be considered accidentally vegan at Starbucks. There is most likely going to be a natural flavor or manufacturing details that we’re not going to know the origin of.
You can choose your level of comfort.
Let’s first see what’s on the menu…
What items are on Starbucks 2026 Fall menu?

Food
Between fall food & new snacks arriving to Starbucks locations, I’m only going to list what is vegan-friendly, rather than listing a bunch of obviously not vegan-friendly food. Only one of the new snacks is an option:
- Floura Blueberry Matcha Fiber Bar. These are 100% vegan.
Floura SuperFiber Flour Mix (Apple, Fermented Watermelon Rind, Cantaloupe, Honeydew, Mango & Pineapple), Agave Inulin Powder, White Chia Flour, Roasted Almonds, Tapioca Fiber, Vegetable Glycerine, Apple Puree, Blueberry Concentrate, Blue Agave Syrup, Pumpkin Seeds, Puffed Quinoa, Coconut Oil, Apple Cider Vinegar Powder, Vitamin E (To Preserve Freshness), Salt, Blueberry Natural Flavor, Blue Matcha Powder
Back to the drinks… let’s start with pumpkin.
Are any of the Pumpkin flavored drinks vegan-friendly at Starbucks?
The one us dairy-free folks are going to eye pretty quick, if you’re familiar, is the Iced Pumpkin Cream Shaken Espresso. We’ve been lucky to have most of the shaken espresso’s be default, accidentally vegan. NOT all of them, but most. This one, unfortunately is not an option. And after going through the ingredient list for every one of the pumpkin drinks, not one is vegan friendly.
The main ingredient that makes a Starbucks drink pumpkin flavored is their Pumpkin Spice Sauce. It contains cow’s milk, making it NOT dairy-free or vegan-friendly.
There is a topping, called Pumpkin Spice Topping, that is ok. You could ask for on any drink ordered. It contains:
PUMPKIN SPICE TOPPING [CINNAMON, GINGER, NUTMEG, CLOVES]
Chai
I’m a huge chai fan and have made peace with not being able to get a chai-based drink at Starbucks but for the people who are not aware of and may choose differently, let me explain. Within VeggL, honey is a no-go for me, which means I do not list menu items with honey as being vegan-friendly.
You choose what’s best for you.
What makes Starbucks chai NOT vegan friendly is that they use a chai tea concentrate that, like I said, contains honey:
CHAI TEA CONCENTRATE [AN INFUSION OF (WATER, BLACK TEA, BLACK PEPPER, GINGER, CARDAMOM, CINNAMON, CLOVES, NATURAL FLAVOR, STAR ANISE), HONEY, GINGER JUICE, NATURAL FLAVORS, CITRIC ACID]
This means I am not listing any of the chai fall menu drinks as being vegan-friendly.
I will mention the Iced Chaider because… what is that? ha! It is the chai tea concentrate + strawberry acai refresher base + water & ice.
I already know the pecan drinks are vegan-friendly. Returners
…but they do need modifications!!
You have the option of the Pecan Cortado and an iced or hot Pecan Crunch Latte.
The 2 ingredients that make the pecan drinks pecan are the pecan syrup and pecan crunch topping.
According to Starbucks ingredient lists, the syrup contains:
PECAN SYRUP [SUGAR, WATER, NATURAL FLAVOR (PECAN), SALT, POTASSIUM SORBATE, CITRIC ACID]
And the pecan crunch topping contains:
PECAN CRUNCH TOPPING [CANE SUGAR, NATURAL FLAVOR (PECAN), SALT, CORN PROTEIN GLAZE, FRUIT AND VEGETABLE JUICE FOR COLOR (CARROTS, APPLE), TURMERIC (FOR COLOR), RICE HULLS]
The Pecan Cortado
Order with your choice of non-dairy milk. You will have an 8oz mix of Blonde espresso + pecan syrup + your choice of non-dairy milk + pecan crunch topping. Served hot.
The Pecan Lattes
The Hot Pecan Latte requires only one modification –> your choice of non-dairy milk:
- Oat
- Almond
- Soy
- Coconut
But also don’t forget, you could make it fun with their:
- Non-Dairy Sweet Cream
Speaking of Non-Dairy Sweet Cream, when you order the Iced Pecan Latte, you will need to order it with your choice of non-dairy milk and SUB the vanilla sweet cream with NON-Dairy Sweet Cream.
Banana Bread Drinks??
This flavor is one I’m struggling to wrap my head around, but I’ll give you the info, nonetheless.
Are the Banana Bread drinks vegan-friendly?
One can be modified–the Iced Banana Bread Latte. While the other, the Iced Banana Bread Chai, is NOT vegan-friendly. The chai details were mentioned above.
Order the Iced Banana Bread Latte with your choice of Non-Dairy Milk. SUB the brown sugar cream cold foam with the NON-Dairy Brown Sugar Cream Cold Foam. Then ask what topping is on this drink. There is conflicting information on their website. If they say Caramel Sugar Topping? Cool. That one is accidentally vegan-friendly. If they say, cinnamon dolce topping, order your drink without it. Or you could just ask for it to be topped with the caramel sugar topping.
The Caramel Sugar Topping contains:
CARAMEL SUGAR TOPPING [CANE SUGAR, NATURAL FLAVORS, VEGETABLE COLORS (PUMPKIN, APPLE, PURPLE CARROT, HIBISCUS), SALT, ANNATTO, BAKING SODA]
…while the cinnamon dolce topping contains cow’s milk.
Your Iced Banana Bread Latte will have Blonde espresso + non-dairy milk of your choice + NON-Dairy Brown Sugar Cream Cold Foam + banana syrup + a topping that I’m not 100% sure of yet.
To close it out…
I love the Pecan drinks and have yet to try a modified Iced Banana Bread Latte. But I am a little disappointed. I was really hoping Starbucks could figure out how to bring a pumpkin drink to us dairy-free folks. One day…? Do you have a favorite? Are you curious about the banana bread flavors in your coffee?
May need to make a run today.
Happy fall!

100% … Great points!!
Starbuck’s grocery store pumpkin spice creamer is made with oatmilk and almond… yet nothing in the corporate star bucks cafes with barista’s and mind boggling amount of customizations has this? It just makes no sense. It’d save vegans a whole lot of headaches if they removed honey from the chai and milk from the pumpkin spice sauce. And the carnivores/lactovores wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference!
