Citi Field Vegan Options 2024 (New York Mets)

Vegan Options at Citi Field

The Mets are not playing around when it comes to the vegan options at Citi Field for the 2023 baseball season.

From baseball stadium staples like peanuts, popcorn and soft pretzels to a “Vegan City” which is NOT what it sounds like. It SHOULD mean everything is vegan… we share with you the details below.

We’ve also collected Citi Field’s policies regarding bringing in your own food as well as a couple of suggestions on nearby vegan spots to eat at before or after the game.

If you see an addition that can be made or a change to this guide, please let us know! 🙂

Can I Bring Food Into Citi Field?

Looking into just bringing your own food into the ballpark? Here are a few policies at Citi Field that you need to be aware of. We pulled these directly from Citi Field’s Information Guide.

While the Mets do not specifically state that you can bring food into the stadium, they officially do not say you can’t either.

Having said that, we have confirmed from multiple sources that you can bring food into the stadium as long as it’s in a proper bag.

Security Policies* (as of 3.31.23)

  • Backpacks are not permitted at Citi Field, however other bags such as purses, diaper bags that are not backpack-style, tote, drawstring, fully clear backpack-style bags with no obscured inner pockets and messenger style bags along with small soft-sided coolers are still permitted. Exceptions to this policy can be made for bags used for ADA/medical reasons by the Security Supervisor at each entry gate.
  • All bags and hand-carried items are searched prior to entry.
  • Items can be no larger than 16″x16″x8″.
  • Glass bottles, all metal cans and containers, with the exception of reusable “Swell/Yeti” type metal water bottles (provided they are emptied), and hard-sided coolers are not permitted in Citi Field.
  • Guests may bring in one, soft, plastic, factory-sealed water bottle of 20 ounces or less.
  • Guests may also bring in one sealed, soft-sided child’s juice box.
  • Water bottles and juice boxes may not be frozen.

*This is not a complete list of all the security policies at Citi Field, just a few we felt were relevant to bringing food and/or beverages into the park.

Best Vegan Options Near Citi Field

You may not be looking to eat at the game, but maybe you want to grab a bite before or after the game. Are there any good places to get vegan food close to Citi Field?

We did our due diligence and we didn’t find anything really close (within walking distance). There are some good places, but they’re a 30-40 minute walk so grab an Uber if that’s a little further than you want to trek.

All three are vegetarian, so be mindful to make sure you’re getting vegan options.

Bodhi Village

Asian restaurant/bakery that (best we can tell) has good vegan options including a few desserts.

Dosa Hutt

Authentic South Indian cuisine that has plenty of vegan options and lots of vegetarian options that can easily be modified. Definitely try the samosas! Really good food that pretty inexpensive as well.

Green Recipes

Vegetarian spot specializing in Japanese cuisine. Plenty of vegan options including veggie sushi rolls.
