Vegan Options at Wendy's

Heading to Wendy’s, hoping to find at least one vegan-friendly menu item? We give you some direction here! In this guide, we break down Wendy’s menu by category (breakfast, salad, sides, etc),  share what is animal-free and how to modify (if needed). Below that, we include an FAQ with answers to questions we get asked from our VeggL’ers or info we notice could be expanded on more.

Let’s be honest, every fast food chain restaurant in the United States offers zero vegan prep and cooking areas so be aware that every item will also be considered accidentally vegan. You choose your level of comfort.

Without further ado, check out our list of all the vegan options at Wendy’s.

Vegan Options at Wendy’s

Breakfast

  • Seasoned Potatoes*
  • Apple Bites

Fresh-Made Salads

We state to order your Taco Salad with NO cheese. From our understanding, some locations pre-assemble these daily while others make them to order. You will need to ask your location if ordering the Taco Salad with no cheese is an option. This is not an issue with the apple pecan salad–only the taco salad.

  • Taco Salad. Order with NO cheese, chili or sour cream. Ask to SUB with avocado … comes with romaine, tomatoes, salsa and taco chips. You can choose the pomegranate vinaigrette dressing–we’re just not sure how it will taste.
  • Apple Pecan Chicken Salad. Order with NO blue cheese, chicken or pecans … comes with a romaine & spring lettuce mix, apples, dried cranberries and pomegranate vinaigrette dressing.

Vegan Dressings

Of the current salads available, the only accidentally vegan dressing listed is the Pomegranate Vinaigrette or salsa.

“Sandwiches”

We are very aware that this is a sad option but in a pinch, go for it. And if a fry sandwich is your jam, we’re not here to judge. You do you.

  • Veggie Sandwich*. Ask for Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe. Order with NO meat, cheese or mayo … comes with tomato, lettuce, pickle, onion and ketchup.
  • Fry Sandwich. Order a Veggie Sandwich (above) and Natural-Cut Fries*. Pull your sandwich & fries out of the bag, take off the bun, add fries on top of the veggies, replace bun & woila! A weird yet accidentally vegan Fry Sandwich. ha!

Fries & Sides

  • Natural-Cut Fries*
  • Plain Baked Potato. Order with NO butter or sour cream. Add chives for no extra cost.
  • Apple Bites

Baked Potato toppings you could ask for:

  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • BBQ Sauce
  • Hot Chili Sauce
  • Salsa
  • Avocado (if available)

* All fried items are cooked in the same oil as menu items that contain wheat, milk, egg and fish. As with any restaurant that is not 100% vegan or does not offer a designated cooking space for their vegan options, cross-contamination can occur and fryers/grills may be shared with animal products. You can choose what your level of comfort is with these potential issues.
