Kansas City International Airport Vegan Guide (2024)

Kansas City Airport Vegan

If you’re at the NEW Kansas City International Airport (MCI) in Missouri and you’re trying to figure out what is available vegan (and where you can find it) then you are in the right place! And if you’re not even at the airport yet and you’re here planning ahead then bonus points for you.

There are A LOT of local restaurants at this airport. If you happen to find vegan options we are missing or specific menu items for a restaurant we have listed, please let us know so we can keep this guide updated for the next vegan traveler. 🙂

So, let’s get right to it, here is your Vegan Guide to the Kansas City International Airport.

Vegan Options at Kansas City Airport

The chain names listed in this guide can be clicked on to see their complete Vegan Guide.

Concourse A

Smoothie King (between A8 & A10)

Vegan Smoothies from Smoothie King
On the left, the Vegan Dark Chocolate Banana. On the right, Veggie Lemon Ginger Spinach. Both sides = Delicious!

Smoothie King can be a vegan haven. They offer so many options that are vegan as-is or can be modified and that includes a vegan protein powder. Check their guide and cross-reference with what the airport location offers to determine what you can order.

Hearth Locavore Kitchen (A8/A10 – Neighborhood 18th & Vine)

The only vegan option that is notated on Hearth Locavore Kitchen’s menu is a Sweet Potato Curry. It is vegan and gluten-free.

Soiree Steak & Seafood House (A8/A10 – Neighborhood 18th & Vine)

This restaurant is listed as having vegan options but I’ll be honest, after looking over the menu, I have no idea what is. If you happen to find out, let us know.

The Hungry Hatch (A10 – Kansas City Food Hall)

Vegan-friendly and looks fresh & delicious!  The Hungry Hatch offers bowls (rice or quinoa), wraps and salads.

Grapes & Grains (A10/A12 – Neighborhood Union Station)

Grapes & Grains is listed on KCI website as being vegan-friendly. But after looking over their menu, it appears to all be animal-based. If you have time to stop by, ask what vegan items they carry.

Dunkin’ (A16)

Vegan Options at Dunkin'
Dunkin’s Roasted Tomato Avocado Toast –> roasted tomatoes have been discontinued.

Multiple bagels (like Everything and Cinnamon Raisin) are available. Avocado Toast (tomatoes are no longer available) and Hashbrowns make Dunkin a decent choice.

Dunkin’ offers oat, almond and coconut milk (with an extra charge) which makes many coffee combinations possible.

Urban Cafe (A18)

We do not have a menu for Urban Cafe available but from our research, their website shows they offer vegan options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you have confirmed this at their airport location, please let us know.

Concourse B

Auntie Anne’s (B51/B52 – Neighborhood City Market)

Auntie Anne's
Auntie Anne’s Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel (order fresh with NO butter) with their Sweet Glaze Sauce.

Auntie Anne’s pretzels can be ordered vegan IF they are willing to make yours without the butter that is added BEFORE they go into the oven. This isn’t just a VeggL hack, it’s something that they themselves promote on their website.

Having said that, we’ve had mixed luck trying to do this ourselves. Some locations are willing to do it and some won’t. Be prepared to wait.

City Market Coffee Roasters (B51/B52 – Neighborhood City Market)

City Market Coffee Roasters offers coffee, smoothies and almond milk, as their vegan-friendly options, from what we can see on their menu.

For the smoothies, they add in honey into all of them so ask for NO honey and yogurt is added into Berry one, so also ask for NO yogurt in that one… unless, it’s a non-dairy yogurt, which would make more sense since they use almond milk as their milk each.

We also had a VeggL let us know they offer a Vegan Burrito! It comes with a chickpea scramble, breakfast hash browns, soyrizo and spinach with a side of salsa. Thank you for this info, Wally! 🙂

Salumeria Cervasi Deli (B60/B61 – Neighborhood Brookside)

No menu is attached on KCI website for Salumeria Cervasi Deli but they do notate that they have Scicilan-influenced vegan options.
