Starbucks Vegan Summer 2021 Drinks Guide

Starbucks Summer 2021 Vegan Options

Hot summer days are here. And we are here for Starbucks’ cool refreshing drinks. Whether you want a vibrant fruity blend or a caffeine pick-me-up, look no further, we have the 2021 Summer list of Vegan Options at Starbucks you’ve been looking for!

We have done a big dive into Starbucks’ menu looking for summer-style drinks and we’re going through each one to let you know how to order one for yourself. (If you’d like to see everything vegan at Starbucks, check out our complete guide)

We certainly wouldn’t want you to turn your back on the newer non-dairy milk option at Starbucks, Oat Milk. But it is summer, so do not forget they offer a non-dairy milk that tastes and smells like summer, Coconut Milk.

Starbucks Vegan Spring Drinks Guide

Let’s start with Starbucks’ most recent additions!

Strawberry Funnel Cake Frappuccino

Starbucks released the Strawberry Funnel Cake Frappuccino in May 2021 with the thought of nostalgia heading into what we would all love to have, “a carefree summer”.  A funnel cake flavoring is blended with coffee, ice and a non-dairy milk you choose with layers of strawberry puree and powdered sugar funnel cake pieces. To make it vegan, order with the non-dairy milk of your choice (oat, coconut, soy, almond) and NO whipped cream.

Complete Ingredients- Ice, Milk, Coffee Frappuccino Syrup [Sugar, Water, Natural Flavor, Salt, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid], Coffee, Strawberry Puree Sauce [Strawberry Puree, White Grape Juice Concentrate, Water, Fruit And Vegetable Juice For Color, Natural Flavors, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid], Funnel Cake Syrup [Sugar, Water, Natural Flavors, Preservative Potassium Sorbate, Salt, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid], Powdered Sugar Funnel Cake Pieces [Enriched Flour (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Sugars (Sugar, Powdered Sugar (Sugar, Corn Starch)), Palm Oil, Water, Natural Flavor, Salt]

Iced Passion Tango Tea

This drink is a blend of hibiscus, lemongrass and apple. The Iced Passion Tango Tea is a nice refreshing and vibrant iced tea with a twist in the taste. No changes need to be made to the order to make it vegan.

Complete Ingredients-An Infusion Of [Water, Hibiscus Flowers, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Cinnamon, Apple, Licorice Root, Lemongrass, Fruit Juice Extract], Ice

More Refreshing Vegan Starbucks Drinks

These drinks are not new but will still be nice in the Summer of 2021.

Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

Creamy with the perfect amount of sweet. It might be the most balanced espresso drink either of us have ever tried. If you have to choose one of the Shaken Espresso’s, this is the one we recommend. (Although the Iced Chocolate Almondmilk is really good too. You can’t go wrong with either.)

Iced Chocolate Almondmilk Shaken Espresso

The Iced Chocolate Shaken Espresso tastes almost like chocolate milk with a subtle kick of espresso. The espresso isn’t overpowering which makes this cold drink go down fast!

Iced Shaken Espresso is the plain version. It does still contain sweetness from their Classic Syrup. Choose any of the non-dairy milks – almond milk, coconut milk, soymilk, or the newly added Oatly oat milk.

Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink – This drink is a blend of passionfruit flavors combined with pineapple & ginger. The milk it comes with is the coconutmilk which would keep it more beach like but you could switch it to the oat milk for it’s creaminess.

Iced Pineapple Matcha Drink – This vibrant drink is a mix of pineapple and matcha with a hint of ginger. Like the Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink, it comes with coconut milk but we think the oat milk would be nice compliment to the flavors as well, if you want to switch it up.

Star Drink – A combo of starfruit and kiwi with real kiwi pieces. This one, we think the coconut milk it automatically comes with is its best option. You can choose to order it as a Kiwi Starbucks Refresher where there is no coconut milk or as the Kiwi Starfruit Lemonade Refresher, where the coconut milk is replaced with lemonade. Talk about refreshing!

The Dragon Drink – Who remembers when this one came out? Everyone was buying it, taking pictures and mixing it with other drinks. Incredible vibrant colors and refreshing tastes. With the Dragon Drink, you have a beautiful combo of sweet mango and dragonfruit flavors with real dragonfruit pieces and coconut milk.

Like the Star Drink, you can choose to order the Dragon Drink as a Mango Dragonfruit Refresher or a Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Refresher. The Mango Dragonfruit Refresher has no coconut milk while the Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Refresher replaces the coconut milk with lemonade. Yum!

Pink Drink – Again, the colors alone make you want to buy this drink. The Pink Drink offers a blend of strawberry acai and passion fruit flavors with coconut milk. You also have the option to order this one without the coconut milk. The Strawberry Acai Refresher has no coconut milk while the Strawberry Acai Lemonade Refresher replaces the coconut milk with lemonade.

Violet Drink – A mix of sweet blackberries and tart hibiscus flavors with coconut milk.

Starbucks’ Blended Beverages

Blended Strawberry Lemonade – A familiar goodie… Lemonade, strawberry puree sauce and Starbucks’ frappuccino syrup blended with ice.

Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino – If you love chocolate, coffee and a cookie crunch, this Frappuccino is for you! Order it with a non-dairy milk (oat, coconut, soy, almond) and NO whipped cream or frappuccino chips. You can ask for more Chocolate Cookie Topping to replace the frappuccino chips you want!

Espresso Frappuccino – Do you need a little extra caffeine on this hot day? Here is a blended frappuccino with coffee, a shot of espresso, your choice of non-dairy milk, ice and coffee frappuccino syrup.

…and if you’re not looking for a regular caffeine boost and not the extra, try the Coffee Frappuccino Blended Beverage. It’s as simple as it sounds–just choose your non-dairy milk.

Caffe Vanilla Frappuccino – Love vanilla? This one is for you! A blend of coffee, vanilla bean powder, non-dairy milk of you choice and their coffee frappuccino syrup. Just order with NO whip.

Mocha Frappuccino – Mocha, Coffee & Cream (aka non-dairy milk)… now that’s a trio! Just make sure to order with your choice of non-dairy milk and NO whip.

Is the Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino Vegan? – I wanted to mention this one because it is one that back in the day I would have gravitated to for the caramel flavors. By the time you order this drink with no whipped cream, no dark caramel sauce and no regular caramel sauce, all you are left with is Ice, Milk, Coffee Frappuccino Syrup and a Caramel Sugar Topping. We have not tried it but you could ask to replace the sauces with a couple pumps of the caramel syrup.

Vegan Summer Eats

Chickpea Bites & Avocado Protein Box

I can imagine Starbucks’ little Chickpea Bites & Avocado Protein Box, that they debuted in Spring 2021, could come in very handy this summer. How perfect for road trips, hikes, long days at the beach or laying by the pool.

“A fully plant-based portable box—with 15 g protein—delivers chickpea bites, snap peas, mini carrots, dried cranberry and nut mix, and avocado spread for a perfect on-the-go moment.”

You could also pick up:

  • Bagel (plain, sprouted or multigrain) with packaged Organic Avocado Spread, Justin’s Hazelnut Butter or Classic Almond Butter.
  • Vegan Superberry Acai Mercato Bowl
  • Fruit Salad or Dried Fruit
  • Fruit Bars
  • Mixed Nuts, or
  • Chips or Hippeas

Final Thoughts

If you’re vegan and like Starbucks, you really have a great bunch of options whether you want something with or without caffeine.

We will always be annoyed with Starbucks until they get rid of that $.70 non-dairy milk charge but to look at the BIG changes have happened over the last 10 years, Starbucks now offers 4 different vegan non-dairy milk options. We would love them to do better but we also are thankful for the progress the vegan movement has made.

Pandemic Update: If you were not aware, starting June 22, 2021, Starbucks is allowing for reusable cups to be used again. Yes!
