Starbucks 2021 Vegan Spring Drinks Guide

Starbucks Vegan Spring 2021 Drinks

Spring is in the air and it’s getting warmer by the day. You pull up to Starbucks and notice (yay!), they have new Spring drinks available! Now you’re frantically going through your phone trying to figure out if they’re vegan or not. Sound familiar?

VeggL is here to fix that. We’ve already researched all the new Starbucks 2021 Spring Drinks and we’re going to go through each one and let you know how you can order one for yourself. (If you’d like to see everything vegan at Starbucks, check out our complete guide)

Oat Milk is the star of the show for this spring as it’s now available at all US Starbucks locations. It’s still going to cost you an extra $0.70 to order it (can we please stop this madness Starbucks?), but Oat Milk in our opinion is the best dairy alternative for coffee.

New Starbucks Spring Items
The new Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, Ice Chocolate Almondmilk Shaken Espresso, Chickpea Box and a cameo from our Miss Mia.

The debut of Oat Milk, Iced Espressos & a Vegan Protein Box!

Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

Creamy with the perfect amount of sweet. It might be the most balanced espresso drink either of us have ever tried. If you only try one of the new Spring Starbucks drink, this is the one we recommend. (Although the Iced Chocolate Almondmilk is really good too. You can’t go wrong with either.)

Complete Ingredients – “Ice, Oatmilk [Oatmilk (Water, Oats), Low Erucic Acid Rapeseed Oil, Contains 2 Or Less Of Dipotassium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, Tricalcium Phosphate, Sea Salt, Dicalcium Phosphate, Riboflavin, Vitamin A, Vitamin D 2, Vitamin B 12], Brewed Espresso, Brown Sugar Syrup [Invert Sugar, Brown Sugar, Water, Natural Flavor, Salt, Preservative Potassium Sorbate], Cinnamon”

Iced Chocolate Almondmilk Shaken Espresso

The Iced Chocolate Shaken Espresso tastes almost like chocolate milk with a subtle kick of espresso. The espresso isn’t overpowering which makes this cold drink go down fast!

Complete Ingredients –  Ice, Almondmilk [Filtered Water, Almonds, Sugar, Calcium Carbonate, Sunflower Lecithin, Sea Salt, Xanthan Gum, Guar Gum, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin D 2 (Ergocalciferol)], Brewed Espresso, Chocolate Malt Powder [Cane Sugar, Cocoa Powder Processed With Alkali, Natural Malt Flavor (From Barley), Natural Flavors, Sunflower Oil]”

Iced Shaken Espresso is the plain version. It does still contain sweetness from their Classic Syrup. Choose any of the non-dairy milks – almond milk, coconut milk, soymilk, or the newly added Oatly oat milk.

Chickpea Bites & Avocado Protein Box

“A fully plant-based portable box—with 15 g protein—delivers chickpea bites, snap peas, mini carrots, dried cranberry and nut mix, and avocado spread for a perfect on-the-go moment.” Perfect for a quick lunch, to travel with or take on a hike.

The Chickpea bites (6 come in the box) are like little falafel nuggets. I expected them to be crunchy, but they’re actually quite soft. They do pair excellent with the avocado spread. The trail mix combo is amazing. I’d buy a bag of that by itself. The green beans and carrots are good, but nothing special. As a whole, it’s a solid lunch that I’d probably buy again.

One last thing to note: the protein box is deceptively high calorie, coming in at 560 calories, so it’s much more than just a light snack.

More Refreshing Vegan Starbucks Drinks

These drinks are not new but will still be nice in the Spring of 2021.

Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink – This drink is a blend of passionfruit flavors combined with pineapple & ginger. The milk it comes with is the coconutmilk which would keep it more beach like but you could switch it to the oat milk for it’s creaminess.

Iced Pineapple Matcha Drink – This vibrant drink is a mix of pineapple and matcha with a hint of ginger. Like the Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink, it comes with coconut milk but we think the oat milk would be nice compliment to the flavors as well, if you want to switch it up.

Star Drink – A combo of starfruit and kiwi with real kiwi pieces. This one, we think the coconut milk it automatically comes with is its best option. You can choose to order it as a Kiwi Starbucks Refresher where there is no coconut milk or as the Kiwi Starfruit Lemonade Refresher, where the coconut milk is replaced with lemonade. Talk about refreshing!

The Dragon Drink – Who remembers when this one came out? Everyone was buying it, taking pictures and mixing it with other drinks. Incredible vibrant colors and refreshing tastes. With the Dragon Drink you have a beautiful combo of sweet mango and dragonfruit flavors with real dragonfruit pieces and coconut milk.

Like the Star Drink, you can choose to order the Dragon Drink as a Mango Dragonfruit Refresher or a Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Refresher. The Mango Dragonfruit Refresher has no coconut milk while the Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Refresher replaces the coconut milk with lemonade. Yum!

Pink Drink – Again, the colors alone make you want to buy this drink. The Pink Drink offers a blend of strawberry acai and passion fruit flavors with coconut milk. You also have the option to order this one without the coconut milk. The Strawberry Acai Refresher has no coconut milk while the Strawberry Acai Lemonade Refresher replaces the coconut milk with lemonade.

Violet Drink – A mix of sweet blackberries and tart hibiscus flavors with coconut milk.

In the mood for a smoothie? Order the Pineapple Coconut Green Smoothie. You have a blend of pineapple, toasted coconut, kale & spinach with coconut milk – or you can pick your favorite non-dairy milk!

Final Thoughts

If you’re vegan and a Starbucks fan, you are really making out well this Spring. New drinks, a new protein and a new (relatively new) dairy alternative.
