Can I Bring Food Into the SAP Center?
Not thrilled with the current vegan options at SAP Center and thinking about bringing your own food into the arena? Before you do, make sure that you’re aware of the following policies at the SAP Center in regards to bringing in your own stuff.
These policies were pulled directly from their Arena FAQs.
Bag Policy (as of 10.21.23)
- It is recommended that fans bring bags that are 5” x 9”x 2” or smaller to expedite their entry.
- All bags, including medical and infant bags, larger than 5″ x 9″ x 2″ are subject to X-Ray inspection and will result in longer wait times for entry
- Bags must be able to fit under your seat once inside the event; therefore, bags larger than 20” x 14” x 11” will not be permitted.
Food & Beverage Policy (as of 10.21.23)
Permitted:
- For Sharks hockey games and family-friendly events e.g., Disney On Ice, Stars On Ice, etc, guests may bring in reasonable amounts of outside food and non-alcoholic beverages for their personal consumption.
- Guests are welcome to bring empty, reusable water bottles that can be filled at the water bottle filling station located at Section 117 on the main concourse.
Not Permitted:
- For all other events, including but not limited to concerts, WWE, NCAA events, and Mixed Martial Arts events, guests are not permitted to bring in any outside food or beverage including bottled water.
Vegan Options Near SAP Center
We went looking for a couple of good vegan-friendly restaurants close to the arena that would make good places to grab a bite to eat before or after the game.
This isn’t meant to be a complete list of all the available vegan options, just a couple of spots that caught our eye.
Be sure to check days/hours open when making plans.
Good Karma Artisan Ales and Cafe
37 S 1st St, San Jose, CA 95113
Amazing looking food, craft beers and organic juices – what more could you ask for as a pre-game or post-game place to go?
Located less than a mile from the arena, it’s almost walking distance, but definitely a quick drive or Uber for sure.
Whole Foods Market
777 The Alameda, San Jose, CA 95126
We’ve done dozens of these Stadium and Arena Guides and we’ve never suggested a Whole Foods as a place to go to get food, but this location just makes sense.
First, it’s less than a 5-minute walk from the arena to this Whole Foods where you know finding food is not going to be an issue. Then there is the fact that there is a pub with a patio, Floodcraft Brewing Co., located on the first floor.
