DID YOU KNOW JENI’S HAS VEGAN ICE CREAM?

Think of the most luxurious peanut butter and jelly sandwich you’ve ever had with a full bodied glass of nondairy milk. These flavors are combined to make Jeni’s Dairy-Free Roasted Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam Ice Cream.
Jeni's Front
Having lived in Ohio for the first 23 years of my life, I can recall when Jeni’s opened up in Columbus in 2002. I was living in Columbus, at the time, but never had a chance to make my way to the North Market to try it out. Along all of my moves to various states, I would see friends post about Jeni’s on social media. Her ice cream became very popular, and still yet, I had not found it locally to where I was living at the time.

Now…all of these years later, I am vegan and happened to stumble upon Jeni’s ice cream in Marietta, Georgia at a Publix, of all places. (Shock face!)

Technically, the story went like this.

My husband was going to Publix. I asked for ice cream. I’m still not familiar with what vegan brands or flavors our store carries so I did a search on Publix’s website. I took a long time to tell him what I wanted because I was incredibly confused when I see Jeni’s as an option. (insert Shock face again!) Is Jeni’s in Georgia? Is Jeni’s Vegan? …dont’ tease me!Jeni's Side

I promptly searched the Jeni’s website to verify the dairy-free was indeed a Vegan Option.
IT IS VEGAN!

How lucky am I to have found her ice cream here? I quickly sent my husband a text to give my 1st and 2nd options request. I realized the pressure was on when I received a text back, that said, “This *&%^ better be *#$%^& amazing – $8” You can add your own “nice” words in to this – ha!

Eeek. I had to rationalize it because we NEVER pay $8 for a pint of ice cream at the grocery store. I’ve been waiting 17 years to try this ice cream. That should be reason enough!

The tasting began.

As per usual, I heated my pint in the microwave for 30 seconds to allow for it to become a little creamy on top so my spoon would slide in. The first bite honestly shocked me. The flavors are creamy and decadent yet feel playful, like childhood. Don’t get me wrong, I still eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches–they’re not exactly luxurious though. You would think that being 39 years old, I could be eating the more fancy types of peanut butters and jelly’s, but no, all I ever graduated to was an all natural, peanuts-only, peanut butter and an all-fruit jam.

This ice cream may have me rethinking those choices. Every. Single. Bite. was worth the wait…

In Conclusion…

I cannot wait to try all of Jeni’s vegan ice cream flavors and look forward to new ones she hopefully releases. The current Vegan flavors are Cold Brew with Coconut Cream, Dark Chocolate Truffle, Texas Sheet Cake, Frose Sorbet and of course, Roasted Peanut Butter & Strawberry Jam

In further research, I found out there are 4 Scoop Shops in the Atlanta area! Oh boy…

If there isn’t a Jeni’s Scoop Shop close to you, you can order pints to be shipped from their website or find out where to buy in a grocery store.
