Is Boba Vegan at Planet Smoothie? (2023)

Vegan Options Planet Smoothie

When looking at Planet Smoothie’s website, we initially didn’t see boba as an option. That is, until I went to place an order and saw it in their mobile ordering system.

My first thought was, “I didn’t know they had boba! …and of course the second was, “is it vegan?”

I searched their website for information with no avail. I google searched to see if maybe it had been mentioned in an article somewhere. Nope.

It took going to my closest location and asking to find out.

Can I Order Vegan Boba at Planet Smoothie?

Yes! I learned that the boba, which is mango flavored, is accidentally vegan at Planet Smoothie. It contains the following ingredients:

Water, Sugar, Fructose, Mango Juice, Calcium Lactate, Starch, Seaweed Extract, Xantham Gum, Malic Acid, Artifical Mango Flavoring, FD&C Yellow No. 5 & Red No. 40, Potassium Sorbate

After trying it, I want to mention that Planet Smoothie’s Mango Boba is a thin boba with light mango flavoring. They are very good and very easy to pop. Boba’s vary in structure and thickness so for people who pay attention to that, I wanted to share that information.

Another side note… once we got our smoothies home, I did add my own vanilla vegan protein powder to my Bubble Trouble smoothie and it mixed in perfectly. I mention that because it wasn’t something I had thought about when ordering it but is an option at Planet Smoothie. If you were not aware, they offer a plant-based protein powder you could order as an add-in.

What Drinks Have Boba at Planet Smoothie?

Technically, the only drink that Planet Smoothie is offering with Mango Boba already included is their Bubble Trouble drink. And let me tell you, it is yummy!

Planet Smoothie’s Bubble Trouble Smoothie! 5/2023

The Bubble Trouble smoothie includes mango boba, strawberries, mango, lemon juice and orange juice. Sweet in flavor but well balanced with the tart from the lemon.

You can also order the mango boba as an add-in to any smoothie on the menu.

We have not tried the following drinks but after looking over our vegan guideOpens in a new tab. for Planet Smoothie, these two have the most potential to be good with some fun flavor pops of boba.

The Caribbean Citrus Splash is a smoothie in the Planet Lite category. The only difference this one has from the Bubble Trouble drink is the addition of coconut water, which we think will give it a tropical twist. The Caribbean Citrus Splash contains coconut water, strawberries, orange juice, mango and lemon.

And the Rio Berry Bliss is the other one we think will be good because the mango boba will add some pops of sweetness to a more berry-based smoothie. It comes with coconut water, acai, strawberries, raspberries and pineapple.

In Conclusion…

We are fans of Planet Smoothies’s Mango Boba! They claim the “accidentally vegan” status, are light bubbles to pop with a nice sweet mango flavor.
