If you have visited P.F. Chang’s recently (2023), you may have noticed a couple of their Vegetarian menu items now say, “NEW RECIPE.” On our P.F. Chang’s vegan guide, we had both of these listed as vegan… but are they still vegan?
Which Two Menu Items Have NEW Recipes at P.F. Chang’s?
The two menu items, we are referring to that have new recipes at P.F. Chang’s, are their Buddha’s Feast and Ma Po Tofu.
The Buddha’s Feast is a main entree with five-spice tofu, a savory white sauce, garlic, green beans, mushrooms, cabbage, broccoli and carrots.
Ma Po Tofu (pictured above) is a spicy main entree with crispy silken tofu, sweet-spicy red chili sauce and steamed broccoli.
Ryan isn’t a fan of broccoli so they SUB’d it for another vegetable. This is an option if you’re in the same boat.
Is The Buddha’s Feast and Ma Po Tofu Vegan?
If you haven’t been to P.F. Chang’s as a vegan, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that the little leaf on their menu items means vegetarian but it also means they use NO animal ingredients in those items.
On our guide, we highly suggest letting your server know you are vegan so they are aware and can let their chefs know. I have even reconfirmed with P.F. Chang’s customer support that the little leaf still means that no animal is used in the ingredients or prep of that menu item.
This means that the Buddha’s Feast and Ma Po Tofu at P.F. Chang’s were and still are vegan.
What Else Can You Order Vegan at P.F. Chang’s?
Here are a few items you can order vegan. To see our complete list, go to our vegan guide for P.F. Chang’s. We keep it updated with new and/or changing information.
- Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps
- Chili Garlic Beans
- Steamed Rice (brown or white)
Dating back to my pre-vegan days, I would order and still highly recommend P.F. Chang’s Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps. You create your own little lettuce wraps with seasoned vegetables, crispy rice sticks and a delicious sauce.
Makes a great sharing dish or even one that can be an entree. I prefer to have a little tofu as well so I like to share it and then get Ma Po Tofu with broccoli and brown or white rice. Yum!
We had a VeggL user reach out concerned about this change and realized many of you may be feeling the same. I hope this has cleared up any questions you have.
